A Celebration of Spanish Tradition

The Story Behind
El Sobremesa

El Sobremesa was born from a profound observation: in our fast-paced modern world, we have lost the art of genuine human connection. We eat quickly, we network efficiently, but we rarely sit down and have meaningful conversations with people we might never have met otherwise.

“It’s not about the food alone. It’s about the pause, the presence, the connection.”

El Sobremesa is a Spanish tradition of remaining at the table after finishing a meal, when the best conversations happen, when friendships deepen, when memories are made. We bring this ancient art to life in Marbella.

Each dinner is carefully curated. We limit groups to 6–8 people, select guests who are open to connection, and craft menus that celebrate Spanish culinary heritage.

Catalín Gheran

Founder & Host

Born and raised in Marbella, Catalín grew up surrounded by Spanish traditions and culinary excellence. After years in Barcelona, he returned home to create something meaningful.

Inspired by his grandmother’s love for gathering people around the table, he envisioned El Sobremesa. Today he personally oversees each dinner, ensuring every guest leaves with new friends.

His philosophy: dining is not about the food alone, but about creating the spaces where human connection flourishes.
